Is there an airport close to Hershey & Harrisburg?

Yes! Harrisburg International Airport (MDT) offers 17 non-stop destinations and one-stop connections to cities around the world. The airport is served by Allegiant Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, and United Airlines. Baltimore International Airport (BWI), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) are all located within a two-hour drive.

Is Hershey & Harrisburg accessible by train?

Yes! Amtrak® rolls right through our region including stations in Harrisburg, Middletown, and Elizabethtown. Amtrak’s Keystone Service connects New York, Philadelphia, and New Jersey to Harrisburg. The Harrisburg station is located in the heart of downtown and is a bus stop for Greyhound and rabbittransit.

Does the Hershey Harrisburg Sports & Events Authority own and operate any of its own events?

Yes! The Hershey Harrisburg Sports & Events Authority owns and operates the annual Big 26 Baseball Classic®, an annual summer tournament where top high school athletes entering their junior and senior years from Pennsylvania and Maryland square off in a three-day series with the goal of taking home the championship for their state. The event also features a Buddy Program where players are paired with individuals ages 5–21 with special needs to participate in a game and other activities throughout the event.

Are there any professional sports team in Hershey & Harrisburg?

Yes! The following professional sports teams are located in Hershey Harrisburg Region: 

  • Hershey Bears – American Hockey League (AHL) franchise with the most championship wins and finals appearances in league history. They are affiliated with the NHL’s Washington Capitals and play at Giant CenterSM in Hershey.
  • Harrisburg Senators – They are the AA affiliate of Major League Baseball’s Washington Nationals and play at FNB Field in Harrisburg. They are the only team in Eastern League history to win four consecutive championships.
  • Harrisburg Heat - pro indoor soccer team that competes in the MASL2 at Hersheypark Arena.
