Harrisburg's City Island is home to the Senators, the AA affiliate of Major League Baseball’s Washington Nationals. The Senators (founded in 1987) have enjoyed success not commonly found among minor-league teams by winning 6 Eastern League Championships, including four in a row from 1996-1999. Annual attendance is strong with the Senators drawing about 300,000 fans each season. Major-league stars like Bryce Harper, Stephen Strasburg and Ryan Zimmerman all spent time in Harrisburg on their way to Major League Baseball.
Home Field – FNB Field provides picturesque views of the Susquehanna River and the Harrisburg skyline. The venue also hosts the majority of home games for the Harrisburg City Islanders soccer team. Spectators can park on City Island or in the city and use the historic Walnut Street walking bridge to walk to and from events.
